Funding payment calculator

ItemUSDTKRW (approx.)

When funding is positive, longs pay shorts; when negative, shorts pay longs. You only pay or receive if you hold the position at the settlement time, and the actual amount is the position value at the mark price at that moment × the rate. Daily and 30-day figures assume today's rate stays the same and exclude trading fees. KRW is an approximate conversion at Bithumb's USDT price.

What this tool does

Funding is the payment that longs and shorts exchange at fixed times to keep a perpetual futures price close to spot. When it is positive, longs pay shorts; when negative, shorts pay longs. This dashboard puts the live funding rates of the top 100 Binance USDⓈ-M perpetuals by volume on one screen, with 8-hour, daily and annualised values, a countdown to the next settlement, crowded-long and dominant-short flags, a funding history chart for each coin and a payment calculator for your margin and leverage.

How it is calculated

Funding is Binance premiumIndex lastFundingRate (the estimate for the next settlement, which keeps changing until then); the interval is fundingInfo fundingIntervalHours (8 hours when a symbol is not listed). Daily = rate × 24 ÷ interval, and APR = rate × (24 ÷ interval) × 365, a simple sum, not compounded. To compare coins with different intervals the 8-hour equivalent = rate × 8 ÷ interval is used: +0.05% or more is flagged 'Longs crowded', −0.05% or less 'Shorts dominant'. The default in the descriptions is each symbol's premiumIndex interestRate (per 8 hours): 0.01% for crypto perpetuals (0.005% per settlement on 4-hour coins) and usually 0% for stock and commodity perpetuals. Premium = (mark price − index price) ÷ index price. The 'top-20 weighted average' is the 8-hour-equivalent funding of the 20 highest-volume coins weighted by 24-hour quote volume; the positive/negative counts use the top 100. 'Near cap' marks funding at 90% or more of the Binance adjusted limit (fundingInfo cap and floor). Funding, mark and index prices reload every 30 seconds (24-hour volume about once a minute), and countdowns tick every second. History comes from fundingRate, last 100, 200 or 500 settlements (200 by default): average (8h equivalent) = sum ÷ hours covered × 8, and the 7- and 30-day totals are the sums of settlements in those windows. The calculator uses position = margin × leverage, per settlement = position × rate, per day = per settlement × 24 ÷ interval, 30 days = per day × 30. Crypto perpetuals are shown by default; stock and commodity perpetuals can be selected separately.

Things to know

Frequently asked questions

Who pays whom?

When funding is positive, longs pay shorts; when negative, shorts pay longs. It is not an exchange fee but a transfer between traders, and the amount is the position value at the mark price at settlement × the rate.

Is the funding shown in the table final?

No. It is the estimate Binance is computing for the next settlement and it moves with the premium until then. Settled values are the solid bars in the history chart; the faded last bar is the current estimate.

Is the APR a return I can actually earn?

It simply multiplies the current rate as if it stayed the same for a year (no compounding). Funding can flip sign within hours, so use it to compare coins. The history average and 30-day total are closer to what really happened.

Why do coins have different funding intervals?

Binance settles each perpetual every 8 hours (00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 UTC), 4 hours or 1 hour, and can change a coin's interval. Large coins such as BTC and ETH settle every 8 hours, but many crypto perpetuals are on 4 hours and a few very volatile ones on 1 hour. Shorter intervals mean more settlements per day, so the table compares daily and APR values, and the status flags use the 8-hour equivalent.

How often does it update, and how is KRW calculated?

The funding table reloads every 30 seconds and the countdowns tick every second. History reloads when a settlement has passed and a new value exists. KRW is the USDT amount multiplied by Bithumb's USDT/KRW rate, a reference only.
